Background

Tradition DR solutions relies on block-level replication and this this poses many dangers. Disaster recovery replication can deliver significant advantages over media based backup and generally the current trends see the progressive replacing traditional media backup methods. The underlying technology for disaster recovery is accelerating the process.

Traditional disaster recovery replication alone is unable to transform recovery time objectives (RTO) in to disaster recovery guarantees. Typical disaster recovery replication uses block-level technology that it not application or service aware.For example if a logical disaster occurs, such as data or malware corruptions this can be replicated from your production network to the disaster recovery site. The effect is now you have two disasters instead of one with no disaster recovery options.
