Get Mac happy for Microsoft

Get Mac happy for Microsoft. Even those people who aren’t involved in the tech world know that there’s an age old battle raging on every day – Microsoft Windows versus Apple Macintosh (or “Mac” as they’re commonly known). Historically incompatible, and running on two entirely different systems, it seemed that there was no way these two industry heavyweights would ever find common ground, but all that has changed, with Microsoft realising that they can offer their customers the best of both worlds – the sleek styling of the Mac computer, with the friendly and familiar interface that Microsoft users know and love. Even better, too, is that they’re doing it with Apple’s blessing.

Office for Mac Home Version includes Microsoft’s usual favourites: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype and OneNote. Business users also get Publisher on their Mac, while home users only get Publisher for PC. No matter which version you choose, there’s also the reliable apps for your phone to give you the ability to do your work even when you’re on the move. As of September 2015, you can choose to either purchase an Office 365 subscription, or purchase the product outright, just like you can with Microsoft based PCs.

Worried about where in the cloud to store your Windows files? Microsoft have got that covered too, ensuring that files you store on OneDrive can be downloaded on a Mac, because the OneDrive app is available from Apple’s App Store.

If you want to run the Windows interface that you know and love on your Mac, that’s an option too, thanks to a program called Parallels. While it’s not a perfect doppelganger for your Windows based PC, Parallels is a great way of keeping your familiar PC world going without a PC. Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Cortana all work seamlessly. Even pro software like Visual Studio is available.

Getting a Mac doesn’t mean saying goodbye to your favourite Microsoft programs – you really can have the best of both worlds with the right Microsoft software. It really doesn’t matter how you choose to use your Microsoft products, because they’re truly cross platform.
